Your 1st step with jump rope
Jump Rope Exercises
In my personal view, jump rope exercise is not just for cardio, it also impact to your whole body. When you start jumping using the jump rope, if you notice that, our brain instruct our hand to start rotate the rope. At the same time it also instruct our feet to jump once the rope hit the floor. Not just that, jump rope exercise train our brain to coordinate with our left side and right side. The whole body need to be coordinate in order for us to get a successful jump. Also it make us focus on our activity. Jump rope exercise did not use more weight towards our body movement especially our knee compare to running or jogging which as you can see bring more impact to our knees and might give injury if we do not get a proper warm out before we start our exercise. In term of calorie burn, there's a studies and video done by fitness people showing that 30 minutes of jump rope burn more calories than 30 minutes of jogging (but I assume this depend on the individual body also). But for me, I did jogging previously and now I change to jump rope because I felt that I can be more creative with my exercise. So now I'm going to share with you a video for 1st timer with jump rope. Hope it may help you with your exercise journey
Tutorial 1: Start with Jump Rope
From the video, the 1st thing you can do is to rotate the jump rope with your one hand (side by side). The main idea is to train your brain and body to coordinate (when to jump). Get a normal jump rope which is ticker and heavier than the professional one. If you notice that, I start to jump when the rope hit the floor. How do I know that? by the sound. Each time the rope hit the floor it will produce a sound. So start jumping. The next point is that, try to relax when jumping. Beginner mistake is they usualy jump too hard. Look how did I jump in the video. Relax and you don't need to use force. The main thing is the leg will push your body by using your feet and ankle. You might see I bend a little bit of my knees when I jump. And once you done with 1 side of your hand, change it with the other side. We need to train both side in order our brain to memorize the movement. Hope with this video might help you in your 1st journey with Jump rope.
